  EA Planning on Bringing Classic Board Games to XBL Arcade This Spring

  You know with all the games now out for the Xbox Live Arcade the best time I remember was playing Uno. Jason and the rest of us would play that game for hours. It was simple and the same as the classic card game only a few new graphic features added but maybe that is why it was so fun to play? Now EA is getting ready to show off their classic line up of Xbox Arcade games this week during CES 2009. If you have been over to Pogo.com you know they have Scrabble and other games already there to play. What you may not know is that Scrabble has been the most popular game on Pogo.com and for the Nintendo DS it even is listed on the IPhone and IPod Touch top 50 applications.

  EA knows how to bring the right teams in for each game and I am really looking forward to playing classic board games with my friends over live. They are fun and easy to join the games announced so far include: Scrabble, Boggle, Battleship, Connect Four, Sorry and Sorry Sliders. No price has been announced yet but I am sure we will be hearing more news on this during CES which officially kicks off tomorrow morning. The first game is slated for a Spring release so stay tuned for more news on this as soon as we get it.

  Interpol The Trail of DR. Chaos Hits XBL Arcade This Wednesday

  This week something a bit different is heading to the Xbox live Arcade as Interpol The Trail of DR. Chaos hits this Wednesday. The game will be part puzzle and part adventure. Do you have what it takes to find DR. Chaos and take him down? The game will feature exotic locations and a 4-player online Co-Op mode. It will be priced at 800 Microsoft points.

  Gears of War 2 Title Update Coming Soon

  Okay, I have read all the comments as well as the Emails and even the messages left by gamers on Xbox live. Regarding Gears of War 2 Multiplayer issues and other problems and all I could do is promise to pass them on to the right people. As promised I have been sending the comments and issues to the Community Manager over at Epic Games. While Justin was aware of the issue and the whole team time was needed to fix the problems. Please visit the Gears of War 2 forums and read the post written by Mark Rein he explains what is in the works. He also mentions several of the same issues that were sent to me by gamers and what Epic is planning on doing about it. I like the hands on approach by everyone over at Epic. They are working hard on a new update and they even mention a few things that show they are thinking for more replay value. You can read Mark's post by clicking here and my thanks to Justin for sending over this so I could post it. As soon as they announce a date for the update I’ll post it but I expect it very soon.

  Xbox Live Marketplace After the NXE Update

  I have received and spoken with people on how to find the new releases on the Marketplace. If you have not noticed right after the new NXE update the new items released on the marketplace get hidden rather quickly. I posted last week about a few songs and costume items for Tomb Raider Underworld. Once it was posted the items were not to be found in the new released boxes. I also got a few Emails and even asked on live where to find the stuff. While the NXE update has given gamers a few new cool features you almost have to learn how to navigate around the marketplace again. If something is not in the highlight boxes just go to new releases and pick browse all. You will find what you are looking for. I am hoping that with the Holiday season over the Xbox live team will work on making it easier to navigate but until then I hope this helps.

  This advice will help with gamer pics, themes and anything else you are looking for. Just select the right catagory and hit new releases then pick browse all. I like the new look but I wish they would leave things up a little longer.

  Xbox Live Marketplace Offers Free Stuff for New Year’s Eve

  In case you have not checked out the marketplace today you may want to. There are new clothes for your avatar and will not cost anything. I am surprised but glad to see Microsoft has not turn this into a cash cow. Also there is new clothing for Tomb Raider Underworld. Also new on the marketplace are bloopers from Major Nelson and crew. If you happen to get some Microsoft points for Christmas you can check out the new songs that hit for Guitar Hero: World Tour and Lips. I just like to point out whenever there is free stuff to download since this seems not to be announced and can be removed quickly or a price added later.

  Merv Griffin’s Crosswords Hits the XBL Arcade Today

  It seems the puzzle genre is more popular than ever as the second puzzle game in a row hits the Xbox live Arcade today. Merv Griffin’s Crosswords is based on the TV show and features thousands of crossword puzzles. Not sure how exciting this one is but I am going to check out the trial version. The full version is priced at 800 Microsoft points.

  Rock Band new DLC on the Marketplace Today

  I know things have been slow with the news this week. I do have the four new tracks that hit the marketplace for Rock Band 1 & 2 this week. All the tracks are 160 Microsoft points. Funk #49 by The James Gang, Space Truckin by Deep Purple, Hymn 43 by Jethro Tull and Take Back the City by Snow Patrol are all now on the marketplace. Sadly there is not a discount price for the three classic tracks but some great songs and something new for New Year’s Eve.

  Puzzle Arcade Hits the Xbox Live Arcade This Wednesday

  Puzzle fans are going to love what is coming to the Xbox Arcade this Wednesday. The game Puzzle Arcade is being released and features more challenges than any other arcade game in the genre so far that has been released. With 35 jigsaw puzzles to solve and 20 other puzzles this one is certainly created for fans of the puzzle genre. Puzzle Arcade will cost 800 Microsoft points and will also have a feature to show off solved puzzles via the Xbox Vision Camera.

  Banjo-Koozie: Nuts & Bolts Update Available Today

  Microsoft sent word that there is a title update for the family game Banjo-Koozie: Nuts & Bolts. The update will fix the issue with trouble reading the text of what the characters are saying on a regular TV. To get the update just make sure you are signed in to Xbox live and insert the disc. You will be prompted to accept the title update. The update is available today and should help younger gamers enjoy the game more.

  Gears of War 2 Update and Multiplayer Issues Explained

  I am posting this because it seems every time I log in to XBL or check my Emails there is someone asking me about the update or issues with Gears of War 2. The last title update fixed many of the issues gamers were experiencing. If you are having other problems or want to see what else Epic and the team are working on to fix they have made it very easy. They have posted a fact list on what the update fixed and answers many of the questions I was getting asked.   Batman: Arkham Asylum Voice Talent Announced

  I got word today that the upcoming Batman: Arkham Asylum game from Eidos and Warner Bros. recruited two familiar voice-over talents for the game. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will reprise their roles as Batman (Conroy) and the Joker (Hamill). Both played the roles in the animated series and in past games so with both on board it should add to the overall game. The game will take a darker look into the character of Batman and the characters but I am looking forward to this one. Gamers will have to wait for summer of 2009 until the game is released though.

  First Trailer for the Upcoming GTA IV: The Lost and Damned

  Doritos’ Dash of Destruction Hits XBL Arcade Tomorrow for Free

  Gamers can thank Doritos for this week’s XBLA game Dash of Destruction. The game will be free starting tomorrow and will be free for all regions. Dash of Destruction is from Ninja Bee and MGS. Gamers will play as a Tyrannosaurus Rex trying to catch a truckload of Doritos if it sounds like a commercial tie-in it is since the idea came from the winner of Doritos Unlock the Box contest held during the summer. Hey, it’s a free arcade game and sounds like it may be fun. Make sure to download it and check it out when it hits the XBL Arcade tomorrow.

  Gears of War 2 Combustible DLC Map Pack Available Today

  Last night there was one surprised for viewers that watched the VGA Awards. They found out and got the early jump on the new Gears of War 2 Combustible Map Pack DLC. It hit at 12:00 PM PST. The new map pack will cost 800 Microsoft Points and will have three new maps all with something different to offer for fans of the game. The news was presented by Augustus “Cole Train” Cole (played by Lester Speight) and each map looked very cool. The three new maps are Flood, Gold Rush and Fuel Station while the price may seem steep for only three maps each one has something unique and should add a challenge to multiplayer matches including Horde matches. Gears of War 2 walked away with “Best Shooter Award” and "Best Xbox 360 Game" during the show.

  Harmonix Announces Pearl Jam DLC Album Ten Coming in March 2009

  Last night during Spike TV’s VGA Awards Harmonix announced that they reached an agreement to bring Pearl Jam’s Ten Album to Rock Band. The DLC pack will be released the same day as the reissue of the CD. The date listed is March 24th 2009. For fans of Pearl Jam this is great news and the Album is probably the most popular from the group. Rock Band 2 gamers already have the song Alive on the game disc. So the DLC Album will include the other tem missing songs. Once, Even Flow, Why Go, Black, Jeremy, Oceans, Porch, Garden, Deep and Release no price was announced yet but this is huge news and let’s hope other bands follow the lead and release their classic material for DLC. Rock Band 2 took home the “Best Music Game Award” and “Best Sound Track Award” during the VGA’s.

  Tom Clancy’s End War Escalation DLC Pack Hits Today

  Today the Escalation Pack for Tom Clancy’s End War hits the marketplace. This is the first DLC and is priced at 800 Microsoft points. The pack includes new units, upgrades and 4 new missions. Players will also get new maps to play Skirmish on and there will be ten new achievements to earn. Also today when you pop in the game you will notice an update for the game. This will also allow for 4 vs. 4 mode one of the things gamers wanted and this is a free update.

  Sega Soccer Slam & Raze’s Hell Soon to be Xbox Originals

  Today Microsoft sent word that on December 15th Sega Soccer Slam and Raze’s Hell will be Xbox Originals. Both titles will be available to download for 1200 Microsoft points each. Raze’s Hell become a personal favorite and I know others on the staff here at XBS enjoyed the game a lot. It seemed no one gave this title much of a chance until they decided to play it and then it become sort of a Cult Classic. Look for both games to be released for download on the 15th of December.

  PowerUp Forever Heads to the XBL Arcade This Wednesday

  It seems Microsoft is bringing back the two arcade games a week I already told you about Metoes Wars. The second game to hit the XBL arcade tomorrow is an action-shooter is called PowerUp Forever. Namco Bandai is promising that no two games will play out the same. They also are saying the weapons are impressive and there are a lot to choose from. PowerUp Forever also offers several different game modes and endless levels? I am not sure about this one but that is what they are saying. It sounds interesting but I think I will check out the trail version first. The full version will cost 800 Microsoft points.

  Meteos Wars Hits XBL Arcade Tomorrow

  This week Metoes Wars by Q interactive hits the XBL arcade tomorrow this is a puzzle game and has done well on other systems. The Xbox arcade version features over 20 planets each filled with a different challenge. You can also pick one of the planets for a friend to compete against you. Metoes Wars is priced at 800 Microsoft points.

  3 0n 3 NHL Arcade Heading to the XBL Arcade in February

  I got word from EA today that they are working on a new arcade title for the Xbox live arcade. 3 on 3 NHL Arcade will feature the smash mouth style of hockey were the rule book is thrown out the window. The team that is in charge of NHL series is also in charge of the new arcade title and it should be a great game for sports fans. The game is going to be under the Freestyle series and will be released in February 2009. The price has already been set at 800 Microsoft points and I will have more details closer to the release of the game.

  Metal Pedal NYKO Hears Cries From Rockers

  This January NYKO is going to release their brand new line Metal Pedal drum pedals made with a metal foot pedal giving all the gamers out there that enjoy the music games another option for pedal issues. The Metal Pedal will sell for $19.99 and work with Rock Band 1 & 2 and also with Guitar Hero: World Tour. One of the features NYKO is offering is the fact one pedal will work on any platform which makes it easier to buy and use. We will have more on this but I know a few people who have had issues with their foot pedal or would like a better made one. It sounds like NYKO is trying to meet the gamers needs out there.

  The holiday season is in full swing and Microsoft is well aware of this fact. Now each Monday though December they will be offering a special price on a featured game. Map-pack or add-on or other downloads will be marked as the deal of the week and the price will be good until the end of that week only. Also Microsoft is extending an offer to all the Silver members out there. Try the friendship is a free promotion this will allow Silver members full access in multiplayer modes for 8 of the arcade games.   Headplay Personal Cinema System – Product Review

  I get to see a lot of the newest electronics to hit the market during trade shows and through other contacts. Over the years I have seen these eye glasses or units that promise great things but wind up either giving me a massive headache or just being lame. We had a topic hit out on the forums several months back about the Headplay "PCS" system and, of course, I wanted to voice my thoughts. After years of experiencing sales reps, PR guys and show girls forcing strange looking things over my head and say watch and you'll be amazed, I always ended up taking the darn thing off my head or eyes then after adjusting to the real life surroundings and getting mad that I even agreed to try it. Of course having that "gadget freak" in me I would try the next thing to show up and the cycle continued.

  I have seen the demo videos of the Headplay "PCS" and the ads on the demo discs that come with OXM magazine. I also read very positive things in the magazines. I simply was not impressed with the whole "PCS" systems in the past. For years they have been trying to perfect it or at least get it to work as promised. Funny thing happened then after the topic was up on the forums. I happened to be contacted by Headplay. They even joined our forums to read the comments and they wanted to talk about a review of their product. I spoke with the person and while polite and seemed very cool, I still told him I would need time with the unit and I would be honest with the review. He agreed saying "we want to let people like you who have used other systems in the past to see why we are proud of our unit". So after a lengthy period of time with Headplay's Personal Cinema System, I am ready to tell you how it stacks up. Read the full review and you may be surprised at what I have to say.

  Rock With Tenacious D Play Rock Band 2 Tonight

  Jack Black is no stranger to the “GWF” events on Xbox live Jack has played against XBL members before. Tonight he joins with his fellow band mate Kyle Gass as Tenacious D play Rock Band 2 at 6:00 PM EST. While the band has a song on Rock Band 2 they are also trying to promote their new DVD “The Complete Masterworks 2”. The DVD was recently released and follows up their last Masterworks Collection. The guys are going to send invites and jam with the XBL community. All you need to do is send a friends request to JBTenacious and KGTenacious and then be on 30 minutes prior to the event. Jack and Kyle will send invites from the list of requests and will try and play with as many people as possible. I know Tenacious D is not everyone’s cup of tea but I like them and think it’s cool that Xbox live members have a chance to play with celebrities. I know this is posted on short notice but I wanted to post it for anyone who might want to join in the event tonight. Each month Xbox Live hosts “GWF” events and you can click on the community link then on calendar next time you visit Xbox.com. Please remember at times due to schedules and touring an event can be changed or moved to another date.

  The Classic Game Banjo-Kazooie Adventure Hits XBL Arcade Tomorrow

  Tomorrow morning Rare’s Classic “Original" Banjo-Kazooie hits the XBL arcade. Younger fans are getting to know Rare’s old Bear and his buddy Kazooie but long time fans have known the pair since their debut back on the N-64. The game is a favorite for all ages and mixes the puzzle/platform genre with humor and a well written storyline. While I am glad to see the classic hit the arcade I am not excited about the price for it. Rare’s classic will be priced at 1200 Microsoft points. Just remember you can always download the trail for free and then decide. I have a feeling my point balance is about to go down.

  GTA IV Social Club Multiplayer Weekend Event on XBL Announced

  Are you ready to take to Liberty city for multiplayer action with the guys from Rockstar games and a chance to win some cool prizes? Well the weekend of December 12th-14th Rockstar Social Club part of the GTA IV website is going to throw a multi platform multiplayer event. No, you won’t be able to play against PS3 or PC owners but they are invited for the same action as well. I think this maybe one of the biggest play and win events ever thrown for one game.

  That weekend the Rockstar crew will be playing multiplayer games and will be around to show how it’s done. Join in on the fun and you may walk away with some cool prizes and perhaps some bragging rights if you beat them. Steve over at Rockstar was not ready to tell me the prizes but he did say winners would be picked hourly as well as daily grand prize packages. He did say anyone who plays will be entered and a member of the social club even if you have not registered with the site.   Distineer Sets Launch Date for Stoked & Website Launched

  Distineer may not be known to most console gamers but soon it they will be when Stoked hits stores on January 20th 2009. The new thrill-seeking Snowboarding game is getting a lot of attention. If it is as good as it looks this is going to be a huge game for snowboarding and extreme sports fans. Stoked will be an Xbox 360 exclusive and features “X-Games champion” Travis Rice and other well know snowboarders.

  Prince of Persia Ships to Stores Today

  I know many are waiting for this one and today Ubisoft sent word that Prince of Persia has shipped. The game has a slated release of December 4th but may show up in certain stores tomorrow. The project took Ubisoft Montreal over 3 years to complete and looks very interesting. I posted earlier that if you pre-ordered Ubisoft was upgrading each order to the collector’s edition. The game is also shipping for the PC and PS3 console.

  Sumthing Else Music Works to Release Halo Trilogy

  Today Somthing Music Works sent word that they are releasing their Halo Trilogy: The Complete Halo Soundtracks and bonus DVD also included in the set is 4 preview tracks from the upcoming RTS Halo Wars game. The set sounds sweet and would make a great gift for any Halo fan.
